Copper and Pearl Rose Leather Choker

Copper and Pearl Rose Leather Choker

This is a choker made with 5mm Greek leather cord that features a hand-formed copper rose with a freshwater pearl. The rose measures about an inch and a half, and the choker measures about 16 inches in length. The rose has an iridescent coloring from a heat patina. The closures in the back are made of sterling silver wire. This choker is ready to ship, packaged in a labeled, recycled box with a lace ribbon.

I cut petals out of sheet copper by hand, and then textured and riveted them together. I then formed the rose, soldered a loop on top, and added a freshwater pearl in the center. The choker is made from thin Greek leather cording, finished with handmade copper closures. The patina on the rose was made by lightly stroking it with a torch flame until the desired colors were achieved. Because a patina cannot be completely replicated, this is a one of a kind piece. The rose was also sealed with lacquer to maintain the colors of the patina.
